Skin Needling Can Improve the Appearance and Texture of the Skin.
Skin needling, also commonly referred to as dermal rolling, uses a rolling device that has around one hundred micro-needles attached. This is rolled over the skin to create thousands of 'micro-injuries', in order to stimulate the repairing mechanisms of the skin.
Most commonly the face is treated, however the neck, décolletage and different areas of the body can also be targeted. This treatment can help to improve skin texture, acne scarring, enlarged pores, sun damage and the appearance of stretch marks, cellulite and wrinkles.
Does this treatment hurt?
The length of the needles used for this treatment are at maximum 2mm long, therefore while many people describe the treatment as 'uncomfortable', we take measures to prepare your skin for treatment. This may include the application of a numbing cream if suitable.
What is the recovery time?
After a skin needling treatment, you may appear moderately sunburnt and your skin may be tender to touch. We will advise you of the correct aftercare to look after your skin during the healing process. We also have a range of skin serums available in clinic that can be used in conjunction with this treatment, to potentially enhance the quality of results and speed up recovery times.
Are there any reasons why I can’t have this treatment?
As is the case with most cosmetic procedures, pregnant and breastfeeding women or those trying to conceive are not suitable candidates. People with active acne or other skin conditions and some autoimmune conditions are not suitable, nor are those who have used prescription strength oral or topical retinoid in the previous six months. Skin needling is also performed with caution for people that suffer hyper pigmentation and have a history of herpes simplex virus. The doctor or nurse performing this treatment will be able to determine your suitability for treatment.
