Anti-wrinkle injections are mainly used to soften facial lines caused by muscle movement. By weakening selected facial muscles, the overlying skin looks refreshed and prevents permanent lines becoming deeper.

Anti-wrinkle injections can also be used for other purposes. This includes reducing the size of muscles in the angle of the jaw for relief of teeth grinding. Excessive sweating is also reduced with anti-wrinkle injections to the underarms. More experimental treatments such as reducing symptoms of hayfever when applying this solution to the nasal passages, are also offered with selected practitioners.

What areas can be treated with anti-wrinkle injections?

The most common places for treatment include the frown lines, around the eyes (crows feet) and the horizontal forehead lines.
We also inject the jaw line, chin and neck bands.

How long will the treatment take?

Anti-wrinkle injections are performed as a ‘lunchtime procedure’. This means they will rarely require much 'down time' and have minimal expected side-effects. After your initial consultation, the treatment can take as little as a couple of minutes.

What does the procedure involve?

Injections only take a few minutes and are administered into selected muscles with a fine needle. The effects of the treatment will take approximately 2-3 days to start working and 2 weeks to take full effect. The effects can last from 8-16 wks, but this will vary depending on the ageing process and dose.

Will it hurt?

This treatment is very quick, so most patients require no anasthesia, beyond ice or stress balls. We do not apply topical numbing cream to the skin for this procedure. Simple analgesia like paracetamol can be taken as per the product directions for any tenderness of headaches post treatment.

Are there any reasons why I can’t have anti-wrinkle injections?

Treatment can not be given to those with sensitivity to the given product, current active skin infections and women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. Treatment should be cautioned in those with neuromuscular diseases including Bell’s Palsy and Myasthenia Gravis, serious auto-immune and clotting disorders and those with generally poor health. Treatment can also not be given if the motivations for treatment are unrealistic or causing undue stress to the person. Your suitability for treatment will be assessed by a prescribing doctor.

What should I do after the treatment?

Please note, you will be provide an After Care and Important information form after your treatment. Anti-wrinkle injections are a considered a 'lunch-time' procedure and don't generally require any down-time or recovery. Most clients return to normal activities immediately.

After the treatment you should:
