Does a double chin run in your family?

Or perhaps you regularly exercise and maintain a healthy diet yet struggle to shift those extra pockets of fat such as 'love handles' or 'bra bulges'.
You may be a suitable candidate for injections that can help to reduce these stubborn pockets of fat that are not easily removed by lifestyle measures.

What areas can be treated with fat dissolving injections?

The most popular areas for treatment are double chins, inner thighs, love handles, abdomens and the back of the upper arms. This procedure is not for weight loss, so areas that are suitable for treatment are generally ‘pockets’ of fat.
The appearance of fat in the double chin area may also be affected by various factors such as muscle tone, therefore a thorough consultation is first needed to assess your suitability for treatment.

Does this treatment hurt and what are the after effects?

The destruction of the fat cells, although very short lasting, has been described anywhere from a mild ache to quite a severe pain. We have various methods to keep you comfortable, including injectable anaesthetic and icing procedures if necessary.
After the treatment, as the body acts to metabolise the fat cells, moderate swelling will occur, as well as reddening and/or itching. This can take a few hours to develop and usually continues for 3 to 5 days, however some people can experience this for weeks.
You may also experience mild to moderate bruising and it may feel firm, lumpy and tender under the skin for the first couple of weeks. The full range of possible side effects will be discussed with you on consultation.

Ladies who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive are not suitable. Those with chronic health issues, systemic autoimmune disease such as MS or Lupus, uncontrolled cardio vascular disease, bowel disease, liver or kidney disease or inflammatory disorders are contraindicated for this treatment. It is also recommended that you not travel by air in the weeks following the procedure, especially long haul flights. People that are classified as overweight may not be suitable for this treatment.
